What we do
Six things, done properly
We don't do a little of everything. This is the whole list, and it's the list we're good at.
A pinhole behind a finished wall doesn't drip. It soaks insulation and rots framing, and you find out three winters later. We put a camera and a moisture meter on it and tell you where it is before we quote anything.
Most backups in this county are tree roots. They find the pipe, they settle in, and they grow. We run a real camera down the line so you see the obstruction on a monitor instead of taking our word for it.
Tankless lives in the closet and runs out of nothing but gas. A new tank is a big grey cylinder in the basement. We install both, and we'll be honest about which one fits your household and your budget.
Galvanized pipe rusts from the inside out. You cannot see it and you cannot patch it. When we open a wall and find galvanized, we price the whole run rather than selling you the one joint that was already open.
Burst pipe at 2am, no heat in January, water coming through the ceiling. You call once and a truck leaves — we do not answer service after hours with a voicemail box.
Rough-in for the remodel, swap the faucet that drips, set the disposal. Small work is still real work and it still gets a written price.

How it works
From your call to the finished repair
Four steps, and the price doesn't move after step three.
-
You call, or you send a photo
A photo of the stain, the puddle, or the reading on your pressure gauge tells us more than four questions over the phone. Two minutes now saves a wasted visit later.
-
We come out and actually look
Camera, moisture meter, pressure gauge. We find the source before we talk about a fix, because quoting a repair before you know what's wrong is guessing with your money.
-
You get a written price
Flat, itemised, and the same tomorrow. If we open a wall and find something worse than we expected, we stop and ask before spending any more of your money.
-
We fix it and clean up
Same-day on most repairs. We haul the old unit away, photograph the finished work, and leave the room cleaner than we found it — including drywall access if we opened it.
Why us
Fifty years on the same twelve streets
Ray Kleinhans started this shop in 1974 with one truck and a promise to show up when he said he would. Two sons run it now, and the crew you meet is the crew that does the work.
We find it, we fix it, and we photograph the finished repair before we leave. That last one is because a picture of the defect is how you know you actually had a problem worth paying to fix.
Flat written price
Same tomorrow as it was today.
Photo of the defect
Before we quote. Not after.
Same-day repairs
Most things fixed before dinner.
Two-year workmanship warranty
Parts carry their own, too.
What people say
3,200 calls, and these are the ones worth quoting
“Two other companies told me it was the water heater. Kleinhans put a camera in and found a pinhole in a line under the bathroom floor nobody would have thought to look. They showed me the photo before quoting anything. That's the whole reason I use them now.”
“Called at 8am, had hot water by 2pm, old tank gone. Nobody dicked me around, nobody sold me a tankless I didn't need. Straight answer, straight price.”
“Backed up every month for two years. They ran the camera, showed me the roots on the screen, and quoted the jetting instead of another snaking. Four years, no backup.”

Straight answers
The questions everybody asks
How do I know if I actually have a leak?
You might not — that's the point. A supply-line pinhole sprays once and then settles into a drip you find months later inside a wall. Signs worth calling about: your water bill moving when nobody's home, a meter that ticks with every fixture closed, a warm spot on the floor, or paint blistering near a wet wall. Any of those and it's worth a look.
Do you charge for the trip if I don't hire you?
Emergency after-hours calls have a service charge either way — we don't drive out at 2am for free. During normal business hours, diagnostics on a leak or drain problem are credited straight back if you hire us for the repair. Straight opinions about what's actually wrong aren't a line item.
Can you fix it today?
Most things, yes. Drain work, water heaters, fixtures, running toilets and supply-line repairs are same-day, and we carry the common parts on the truck. A full repipe needs materials ordered and is scheduled, not same-day — but we'll tell you that on the phone instead of on your invoice.
Are you licensed and insured?
Licensed NY plumbing and heating, HE-117493-B, and insured well past what the state requires. Our license number is on every invoice and every truck. If you're ever asked for ours and you'd rather see it before we start, ask — we'd rather show you.
Do you do the drywall back?
We open it cleanly and we can put the access back to a finishable state, which means the cut is square and the framing is intact for your drywall guy. Full hang, tape and paint is not something we do — that's a different trade and we'd rather send you to a good one than do a bad version of it ourselves.
My house is older. Are you going to treat me like the pipe is a problem?
Only if it is. A 1920 house in the Village of Elmwood is going to have cast-iron stacks and galvanized supply, and that's normal for its age, not a defect. We tell you what's worth fixing now, what's fine for another ten years, and what to watch. That's the whole job — knowing which is which.
What happens if something breaks right after you were here?
Call us. Workmanship is warrantied two years and parts carry the manufacturer's warranty. If it's ours, we come back and fix it at no charge. If it's a part failing under its own warranty, we handle the paperwork and the labour so you deal with one phone number instead of two.
